This my design for typography, I used the word identity. The first time I created the writing it didn't go so well as the 'N' and the 'Y' were too small which didn't look right. So I decided to recreated this one by changing small parts and then imported it into photoshop so I could darken the lines.
The first thing I did was get some inspiration, which I got mine from a game and horror genre. Then I got some graph paper so that I could use the squares in case I had to draw them again, drawing out some of the letters was a bit tricky as I had to try and get them all the same size and shape to match each other so they fit together in the same word like a puzzle.
when I was happy with way each letter looked I went over them with a thin, black pen to make the lines easer to see when I scanned it into the computer, to edit or change the letters.

When I had imported it into photoshop and redid the out lines I decided to add some colour and detail on a separate layer, I tried to make the part of the letters look like a blade of a knife a silver colour with a lighter bit for the sharp edge, then the next ting I did was add two white shine of light to make it look new and smooth but also added some shade where it needed to be.
The with the other part I coloured in with a dark grey to show where the handle would be, when that was done I added a darker shade of grey to give it some shade and detail.
It was quite successful and I really like how it has turned out, the colours and shading worked well as it looks like it is coming off or on top of the orange page.
to improve this piece I would try to add a shadow to the letters to make them stand out more, and see what other textures or colours I could use to get a different message, and then try to see what would happen if I could use different media, like paints, inks, different backgrounds, watercolours, fabrics and pens or pencils.
